Mud or Morals

You know I've sat back and I've watched facebook and Twitter-my friends, family and acquaintances during this whole debacle otherwise known as the 2016 election. I am just shocked and saddened by how many people who are normally rational kind people have let this circus bring out their most negative thoughts and actions in the need to be "right". The bottom line in this election is that the people of the US are going to be the losers. Neither candidate is the "Best" the US has to offer. But instead of looking at the facts on both sides everyone wants to get down in the dirt and sling mud.
If you want to know what's going on then DO THE HOMEWORK. Go to unbiased sites/info and look where the candidates stand then use some of the knowledge you learned in your high school civics class about  our checks and balances system . Somethings are not going to be overturned no matter how much we despise and hate them (abortion) Nor can one person make a law to overstep our rights. If you want to know the truth we will only get it  when the homework is done. Social media won't give it to you in a meme, slanted post, or a screaming rave.
We can find the info for ourselves we just have to be invested enough to look for it and then make an EDUCATED, INFORMED decision voting our our personal conscious. And when someone disagrees with you treat them with respect and agree to disagree. That's one of the greatest things about this country and yet every day people are beating each other up over this very thing. The name calling, and degrading of others is beyond sad. This election has brought out the worst in a lot of people and I for one am ashamed of how we are looking to the rest of the world.
We all need to look at our own time lines and ask ourselves what would our  mothers think about them, what would  "Grandma" think about them. What would the person who we  hold at the highest esteem think of it. Now ask yourself is this the side you want your children and grandchildren to see.   Because when the dust settles we all still have to live with how we conducted ourselves .

Char you make some excellent points. As it used to be where two individuals disagreed about their politicians or their policies, it was ok as you point how it should be, to agree to disagree. However, under the current divisive administration, it's become more prominent for a "win at all cost", philosophy.

The current Presidential choices are not the best that we've had as compared to years past, but these are the choices and we have to decide on one or the other. The American people were fooled into the Obama years, as he offered change and hope, and because he was the first successful African-American to run for the Presidency, he was won the race. He made nothing happen for America and based on his hundreds of "Executive Orders" displayed a lack of leadership between he and the Congress. I don't believe anyone can point out 5 remarkable things he accomplished during his 8 years in office. I hope the people can see through the candidates running and not vote to simply put a woman in the most powerful seat in the world, because she is a woman. Time will tell how smart we are as a people.
